New York City
Here we are, New York City our second to last stop :)
After a quite exhausting trip we woke up to a very nice and sunny day in "Liberty City" ;) On the first day we decided to soak up the city's atmosphere and walked up the Broadway all the way to Central Park. We enjoyed the many attractions along the route: the buzzing financial district around the famous Wall Street, the World Trade Center memorial and the brand-new Freedom Tower, the many shops and beautiful old-brickstone buildings of Soho, the Flatiron Buildung, a Farmers market at the Union Square and lastly the flashy and colourful Times Square.
Up to this point we hadn't seen any snow but once we strolled through Central Park, we understood that all those news about the most severe winter were Not lying :)
On Day 2 we started with a visit at the famous Brooklyn Bridge, then soaked up the international spirit of Chinatown and Little Italy and finally made our way up to the Meatpacking District where we had lunch at the Chelsea Market :) After that we strolled along the Highline which is a park upon an old railway track. The highlight of the day though came in the evening when we enjoyed the world-famous Lion King musical on Broadway :)
On Day 3 we took a ferry out to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Liberty Island provided us with a great view over the Manhattan skyline and the visit to the Statue of Liberty itself surely stands out :)
So far about our first couple of days here in New York - we'll keep you posted ;)
