USA - New York part 2 (14.-17.03)

Stop 5: USA - "where have the mountains gone???" ;)

New York City

After all these bright and sunny days to begin our stay in New York we had a couple of rainy days ahead and decided to visit some of the great museums around.
First we visited the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art (Moma) which houses probably the broadest collection of art we have ever seen. Covering all parts of the Moma would have probably tanken us three days so we focused on the famous (neo)-impressionism section, the European sculptures and the modern art section. Heavily biased through our semester abroad in Paris we sure liked the works of Monet and Rodin best :)
After the Moma we visited the 9/11 Memorial Museum which made us relive the terror attacks to the World Trade Center in New York.
On the next day we went to the American National History Museum where we saw a lot of different animals from all over the world and learned about the built-up of our universe. In the evening we had a harbour lights boat tour which took us around entire Manhattan :) Even though it was freezing outside we enjoyed the skyline views a lot.
On our last two days we visited the two observation decks of the Empire State Building and the Rockefeller Center to enjoy some views over New York City from the top :) Due to the crazily long three hour wait at the Empire State Building we liked the Rockefeller Center much better!
All in all, we really enjoyed our stay in New York City but we are also looking forward to our last adventure in the cold and white nature of Iceland :)
The countdown is running - only 10 days and we'll be back home :)
